Beard and Moustache... championship?!!!

First and Second place.

Third Place.

Ah, the many times I've wished I could grow a beard.

So many things to worry about.
Responsibility sucks.

Any ideas for how to raise $1000 in week?

What is there to say?

I drank a bunch of water and was thinking to myself, my stomach sounds like a washing machine, so I googled washing machine and came up with this. ? Of course, a washing machine toilet. Yin and yang.

Do I have to stay here while they work?
It sounds like they are attacking my bathroom ceiling. Oh, wait, they are. No, now it sound like the whole thing just fell into my bathtub. SWEET.
Love waking up to your roommate telling you there's someone here to fix your bathroom and giving you a look when you say you need 5 minutes to throw like some clothes on. C'mon like we don't all sleep in a t-shirt and underwear?? Nope? Just me?
Well, bully for all you people who wear pj's and are prepared when repair men show up at your door (might I add for something you don't want fixed).
Psh, I'm not angry or annoyed. I AM tired and kinda twitchy, caffeine deprived and literally broke. So broke I'm trying to figure out if I second hand some of my clothing, will it be enough to pay for gas to the dmv and the fee to get a new license. B/c pathetically enough that's the only reason I'm broke. B/c I don't have a picture id. I have checks on me, but no way to cash them. My bank is an east coast bank, did I mention I think my eye is twitching? Maybe I'll go take a nap in my car till they're done....

Budgeting

Trying to decide between Outside Lands or a round trip ticket home. Both of which would zero out my bank account, so really the better option is the not yet mentioned, do neither. Or join join the Girls, Girls, Girls down the street for a little extra cash....

Tina Kalivas

I sometimes get more excited when I see I've received an e-mail from the selby than anything else (job offers and love letters included). If cribs were actually interesting to watch (does it even exists anymore??) I'd like to think it would be something like the experience of glancing through the selby photos.
I digress from my original point which was simply to say: Tina Kalivas has got me inspired. At least for the next couple minutes before I decide inspiration is too tiring and decide a nap is the best possible course of action.
But for now, keep all scissors away from me becuase she makes want to cut a frindge again (trying to grow it out, hating that awkward stage...) and to finish the hemming job I pretended to start last night. Slight difference, the table she has for her sewing machine is the size of my room. Which obviously means I need to move to sydney. Into a place with a large table. Ohh bangs...

Why Should Shoes Be Clean Anyway?

The Polaroid kid. My newest crush, replacing my ever present love for Neil Patrick Harris.
'This kid, is a 22 year old self taught photographer and train hopper, and he’s been capturing the stories of his train-hopping community (or sub-culture) on Polaroid film since at least 2003.' from SeanWoosley.com
Oh train hopping, I think the best thing about it are the people who do it. Some of the greatest people ever.
But this kid, his pictures are really amazing. And now I'm just pissed that I was in San Francisco a couple weeks back and I didn't know about his exhibit. You win some, you lose some.
I think what's so breathtaking is the simple bittersweetness, its so honest. Anyone can take a picture, but it takes an artists to capture a feeling.
But we're all artists. You can see more of his stuff on his m+b artists page.

Movin' out

Driven from DC to Albuquerque in last three days. Wish I could be everywhere at once. So many wonderful people, so many incredible places. So much to do, so little time. Anyway, in true Kerouac style, I've sped on through taking cat naps here and there. I adore the open road. Driving really does make me happy. Point being, staying in a hotel tonight, meaning a bed.
Oh, wonderful bed.
Thoughts so far.
West Virginia really isn't that bad. In fact I'm a fan. Huntington's cool. Kentucky's beautiful. Tennessee's about as southern as you get. Skipped Nashville, another time. Memphis is wonderful.

With a little tlc it could be hoppin' in no time. Still in love with my car. She's still nameless.(Any suggestions? Something long that can be shortened into a nickname. Pictures to come.) Oklahoma kinda sucks. New Mexico's intriguing, kinda magical. Albuquerque's got this completely awesome edge that's only softened by the smallish population and heat.
(Picture below: where I ate dinner.)

Phoenix next, then LA.
(Pictures are not mine, camera cord is packed away in the bottom of my trunk.)

Blog Crush

Endosymbiotic

I prefer this ^ to this v

And then there's this,

'You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there. - Bob Marley'

And that explains the crush.

Weebles Wobble But They Don't Fall Down

By Bob Hicok

I know a woman about to lose her house.
It's not missing, she's certain
where the water shut-off valve is
and which stair squeaks when she goes up
at ten to rise at four. I promised myself
I wasn't going to do this, no one listens
to this kind of poem anyway,
it might as well be a sermon or the side
of a cereal box: "The Lord
has heard my cry for mercy," contents
may have settled during shipping. Now
she has to "Self-Store" her stuff
but doesn't have the geld to do so,
and her brother's stuff from his re-poed house
is already in their mother's basement, so she's sold
what she can and given the rest away
or left it on the street for neighbors
to pick at through January. Ever watch
the woman who backed over your cat
hold one of your dresses
across her winter coat, pinning it
with her chin and turning
as if in a mirror before rejecting
your sunflowers, dropping them
into the curbside thaw and moving on
to a pair of black pumps she'd be a fool
to wear, given the apples of her ankles?
Now caption that image "Redistribution of Wealth"
and write down on a piece of paper
how you'd change the world. You never
have to show that paper to anyone, not even
yourself, the god you are inside or pimp, the ax
in case of, the glass, to break, if fire
is emergency, is now. It's hard
being a Wobbly these days, liking the head
of Marx if not the fist grafted on, there's nowhere to go
to belt out "Look for the Union Label,"
an admittedly crappy, anachronistic song
I miss like I miss the sense
of being together in this, there was Rockefeller
and there was the rest of us, there was Aristotle
being right, we are political, we are animal,
we are lost.

Is it just me?

I dunno, when I saw this 'Lets get it on' by Marvin Gaye just popped into my head. No one else? Don't even ask how I ended up on this site. And don't judge. I'm just tired.

Shit. Its raining.

I have two large windows in my room. Hardly ever shut my blinds. (Its a problem.) I can hear the rain very well in my apartment. Not to mention the four other windows I walk by while getting ready. It was visibly gray today. And yet, when I stepped outside, this is what I thought:

News

Prosecutors will announce decision about Zuma's graft charges on Monday. I'm more worried about his past rape charges. Then again, not a lot of people like the guy so I wouldn't be surprised this was a some set-up. He happens to be to busy running for president to worry about his court case, imagine if Obama had been charged with Graft while he was running for president. Can't? Yeah, we can't handle the kind of political drama Africa's got going on.
In Maryland, speed camera's can now be placed within half a mile of school zone's. And they have been. I'm pretty sure I've a got a ticket coming. I live across the street from a school and I see the flash about 5-10 minutes at night. I'm sure once people realize its there, it won't be so commmon, but they are going to make bank with whatever they've got coming just from the past couple days. I'm furious.

Little Speed Demon

I'm turning 20 this coming year and I'd say I've gotten about 1 speeding for every year of my life. The may be an exaggeration, but you'll never catch me in the slow lane. I consider within 20 obeying the law. It doesn't seem to fly with cops.
And then there's Garmin, you all know, that little navigation system we all have pet names for? Mine is Cleveland, don't ask where it came from. I love him. Without Cleveland, I'd still be lost somewhere in Northern VA.
So, what do you get when you put my love for speeding and Garmin together? a new GPS software app called Phantom Alert. Yes, its as cool as it sounds. Phantom alert tells you where where red light traffic cameras, speed traps, and DUI checkpoints are. For $10 a month. Still debating whether its worth it.
Whats really great is analyzing their target market.
'The safety arguments are moot because the target market is so specific. Anyone willing to pay $10/month for a Phantom Alert subscription either pays more than that a year in traffic tickets, or has a vested interest in keeping up habitual speeding. The price point itself suggests a very specific target market. Subscribers are going to speed regardless, they just want to make it a cheaper proposition' - from business pundit

Superhero's

On the BBC this morning, a man rescued an autistic child from a third floor window ledge. The catch? He was wearing a Spider-Man costume. 'The sight of Mr Yoosabai dressed as Spider-Man and holding a glass of juice for him, brought a big smile to the boy's face, and he promptly threw himself into the arms of his "superhero", police said.' --Thai Spider-Man to the Rescue. The fireman apparently keeps the costume around to 'liven up' fire drills at schools. Yeah, its kinda weird. The costume part, not the saving children part...
