Now I don't even have a home phone.
And anyone who knows me would tell you I never pick up my cell.
But, its a nice thought.

Won't be using this one...

Hi, __________ (name of co-worker)!

I’m so sorry I showed you my __________ (body part) at the holiday party. Don’t worry, it’s not like I have __________ (nonfatal disease). You seemed really __________ (emotion) about it, and I wanted to explain. I had intended on wearing my __________ (name of clothing designer) dress to the party, but after pigging out on chocolate-covered __________ (snack food) at Thanksgiving, I couldn’t fit into it.

So I borrowed an outfit from my fat friend __________ (name of friend). Who knew it would fall off? And sure, I drank lots of those __________ (descriptive word) martinis, but I wasn’t that drunk. It’s just that when __________ (’80s song) plays and I do my impersonation of a __________ (inanimate object], I go into the zone. So when I yelled “__________ (verb) now!,” I wasn’t really even talking to you.

I hope you understand.

Yours,
__________ (your name)

P.S. About what I said in the bathroom, I don’t even feel that strongly about __________ (political issue).

I did get a taser for x-mas...

real life superhero's.
this is just because watchmen is coming out soon....

And you let me unwrap it at the ____________ []employer] holiday party! In front of all those ______ []plural noun] no less. It’s not every day someone gets what they’ve been ________ []verb ending in -ing] _____ and _____ []pair of opposites] for, but still, a ______ []adjective indicating size] heads up would have been ________ []adjective].

Look, even though I want to _______ []verb] you, I know the ____________ []adjective] thing to do here is say thanks. So thanks.

Just wait till next year.

XOXO,

Happy Holiday's!

I love the holidays. they are stressful and frustrating, full of family you barely know and everything you do is in excess. But really, its all wonderful. I loved seeing my family. (And playing with my cousins new puppy.) And now I have thank you cards to write. Lots of them.
My favorite gifts were:
1) A taser (Yes, like with volts of electricity. I laughed till I cried when I opened it.)
2) A singer dress form mannequinn (for seamstresses)
3) A waffle maker (for when I feel I can eat again)

What were you're favorite gifts?
any anecdotes? (my brother almost pulled a christmas tree down on top of himself.)

Dance!

Happy Friday!

So busy. What with it being the end of the quarter, the end of the year, presents to be bought (I'm not gonna lie, I've got nothing) and family members you didn't know existed calling cuz for some reason they remember you exist around the holidays.

Somehow I'd like to find time to make these: Peanut butter Cups
But, if I don't get to it (and its unlikely what with my schedule and my history of setting off fire alarms...) maybe you could find the time? Put them in a nice tin with a bow on top, and you've got yourself a delicious present. : )

help me get a fridge?

Oh kids

Oh dear.

Note sent to the teacher the next school day with 1st grader...

Sorry, Ms. James. That's NOT me pole dancing onstage in a strip joint! I work at Home Depot and that's me selling a shovel.

Sure, mom, whatever you say.

I always come back to art

Tracing shadows is an article in the New York times about this guy (Ellis Gallagher) and Brooklyn art student who has been going around town, your guessed it, tracing shadows. I'm all for incorporating art in our daily lives, and making it so accessible to the public. And this seems really cool, I'm sure that when the shadows move its kinda a reality test. Or a glance into the past. You can see now what was then.
And who doesn't like drawing with chalk???

Be Green

Need an eco-friendly holiday present? Why not buy a used phone. Actually, screw the holiday's, this is awesome in general. Purple Gossip

On a lighter note

are you being watched??? Boing Boing.

Inspired to research

Please read this article from Boing Boing, about this guy (Charles Platt) and his experience visiting a pen pal in prison. Its opened my eyes to how little I know about the U.S. penitentiary system and how much it infuriates me. I believe that everything can be better, that we can make everthing better, and if there is one thing that has plenty of room for improvement it is our judiciary system.
If there is one thing that I think everyone can agree on, its that you don't fuck with another persons life. Yet its happening. Need more incentive to read this article? Platt has stats that say that 1 out of every 100 Americans is imprisoned.
The first step to correction, is understanding.

We're Doomed

Irag has resorted to throwing shoes, but they have damn good aim.

So True

How many times have me or my friends said this???

"I hate Virginia because no matter where you drive around the tri-state area, you will inevitably end up lost in Virginia."

You may have known...

..but I didn't know that Shepard Fairey had his own gallery that he shares with another artist, Blek le Rat. (Another Blek Website). Wishing I lived in LA. And that is saying a lot. I despise heat.

November flew by...

I don't think anyone would argue with that, but where is December going? And will I ever have time to catch up? I worry I'm not living in the present, which is vaguely ironic. I want to be spending time with the people I care about, but I'm too busy trying to figure out what to get them for Christmas. Christmas. Its in 14 days people. For those of you who don't celebrate it, count yourselves lucky.
And most importantly I feel as though I'm putting my life on the back burner for the sake of the holidays. My dreams, and my goals are being ignored becuase everyone else has a month of to fuck around and get drunk before they head back to the real world, the real world for most of my friends being a University that hasn't changed its way of dealing with students since it was created almost a decade ago.
They head back there, to discuss Plato's views on death and waste time generally feeling more important than everyone else. And if they're not studying for the purpose of acing a test (the right reason being to learn the shit not to impress the teacher) knowing full well they will forget it within 5 minutes of leaving the building, then are seeing who is the best at a keg stand.
And I rant with no clear agenda.
Judgments based on my own screwed up perceptions and values.
I apologize.
School can be great if you know what to do with it, and frankly you should do whatever you want with your life.
More importantly, Bill Murray is amazing. Haha, no, he has been spotted crashing New York parties. The parties thrown but the young, intelligent and beautiful. Only he could pull it off, without being called a complete creeper.
Apparently he shows up, drinks a beer, has a nice conversation, gives some advice takes a picture or two and bails. Some say he seems lonely. I think he may be the coolest party hopper ever.

Why Not?

Man works to embed a camera into his eye.
His prosthetic one that is. His reasoning?
"If you lose your eye and have a hole in your head, then why not stick a camera in there?"
Rob Spence lost his eye when he 13, due to an accident with his granfathers gun which caused sever trauma to his it.

Hint!

What do I want for Christmas?
Peace, Love and Snow.

On the other hand, check out this sweet hand warmer.
Runs of Zippo lighter fluid, fits into pockets and last up to 24 hours.

But they don't seem worried, why should we?

This makes me want to move there.

I'd like cool studio space also...please

Recently, I've been thinking more and more about working in a Gallery. An internship may be in the near future.  Meeting artists, meeting people who like appreciate art would be wonderful. I probably would go a little nuts after some time, but I'm very interested.

This is an amazing gallery. I found it on the blog, Inhabitat.

This guy, Auro Foxcraft, decided to help out the young (broke) London art scene by creating studio space out of old subway cars.  Its sits atop an old warehouse which is used for gallery space, and it environmentally friendly too.  Also there are plans to make make expand this idea to other places like Berlin, Lisbon and Toronto.  I vote for New York, or even better, DC. :)
But for now, I guess I'm just going to have to plan another trip to London. Like that would really be pulling teeth.
Might have to turn a few tricks to afford it though....

I always wanted to be an artist...

I stumbled across this blog, the fragrance separate to the flower, and it is amazing.  It encouraged me to pull out the easel my mom got me for Christmas, then I remembered why I put it away to being with.  Impossible to put together. Still my drawing pad sits next to my bed,  its where I keep everything that is close to my heart.  If I stumble across it while groggily getting up in the morning there is no way I will forget about it, which is generally my only problem in life.  And I rant

We have a new President ladies and gentlemen. His name is Barack Obama and I'd say he has his work cut out for him. Lets so our best to help him out and create the change that he imagines, because whether you agree or disagree with him, it is easy to see that he wants to better America and the world. If you missed either speech (McCain's or Obama's) you should really watch them, both are inspiring. (Sorry about the crappy quality of the link to Obama's speech, it was the best one I could find right now.)

So, apparently you can be in an open relationship on facebook. Did this happen a while ago and
i just wasn't paying close attention? And does anyone else find it odd? What I mean to say is, it is interesting what this says about our society or at least about the cultural change that comes with the 15-3o something's that are invested in the reality of facebook. This means that we now have enough of a clear definition of an "open relationship"  that whether or not you agree or disagree with it, its a valid relationship identity. And I'm also wondering, how do you define an open relationship?

Another good reason to live in NY. You could participate in this.

I know that no one reads this blog therefore this will not get any any responses but I was curious, if you read any literary magazines what do you read? Or maybe in general what magazines do you read? (Btw, I did not mean for that first statement to sound pathetic and I was not looking for sympathy) I subscribe to The New Yorker and Rolling Stone (though I don't always read Rolling Stone). I pick up a vogue occasionally. I have read McSweeneys and have been meaning to subscribe, also read the Virginia Quarterly and glanced through a Harpers Review. Lets see, I like to read Wall Street Journal, the Conde Nast Magazine and Wired (though I usually catch up with Wired thru their blogs). I suppose that's about it. So, help me out here, what am I missing??

Fairey

Steven Fairey was seen in DC last week, leaving his mark in Logan Circle. I honestly meant to write about it sooner, b/c I think he's awesome however the picture's I took of this piece for some reason won't upload which resulted in me getting frustrated and therefore no post. I borrowed this image from the dcist blog. But really people, you should go down there and see it for yourselves. Its really cool, plus P St. is a fun on its own. :)

(Location: P St. in between 14th and 15th)

Although I am destined to become a cat lady, I absolutely refuse to be "that cat lady who rifles through the trash and talks to herself". And so, I do my best to stay away from trashcan's (ignoring the very insightful motto "one man's trash is another man's treasure") and I find myself turning to blogging to keep from my, slightly unsettling, muttering tendencies which surely annoy and distress my co-workers. An unnecessary intro for, "Hello World, Here I am."
